The 12 Astrological Signs: the Primordial Energies

Astrological signs, also known as zodiac signs, are one of the four main components of astrology, along with planets, houses, and aspects. They represent specific energies and characteristics that make up our personality and life path. Each of them corresponds to a range of angular positions in the sky relative to the constellations, in which planets or astrological houses of an individual's chart can be located.

In particular, the position of the Sun at the time of birth defines what is called a person's "sign" in traditional astrology. The Sun is said to be in a given sign when it is in the same constellation as the sign, from Earth's perspective. This is why there are traditionally specific dates for each sign, as indicated below.

However, it's important to note that other planets in the solar system can be located in different signs at that time. Someone referred to as "Libra" may have many planets in the Capricorn sign at the time of their birth, for example, and be strongly influenced by that sign. Therefore, an astrological chart must be interpreted as a whole, and the various planetary positions considered for a precise and nuanced astrological interpretation of a birth chart.
